Matthew 6:25 – “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” (Scripture Reading Matt. 6:25-34) Many people find themselves concentrating on the future, especially at this time of year. They wonder whether they will ever accomplish anything noteworthy in their life. Anxious thoughts quickly turn into worry and fear when they ponder whether God will answer their prayers and meet their needs in the days ahead. Temptations also abound. We have just celebrated the birth of our Saviour and Lord, but for many the most meaningful moment came when everyone gathered around the Christmas tree and opened presents. Did you get what you wanted? Chances are that many did, or at least they thought they did. But how long did it take for the newness to wear off and discontentment to reappear? Only a divine encounter with God can satisfy the inner longing of your heart and bring a true sense of fulfillment and lasting peace. During His earthly ministry, Jesus spoke of man’s desire to gain and hold onto material things (Matt. 6:25). Somehow we have come to believe that if we are successful from a material perspective, we have achieved God’s will. This is a long way from the truth. FRIENDS – God’s will for your life is simply for you to love Him with your whole heart and seek His kingdom above the world’s passions. When you do, you find a sustaining peace within your heart that nothing can remove or change. God bless and have a very blessed January! Your Friend and Pastor, Pastor Dave
